Vorherrschendes Gefühl 2009: es passt noch nicht ganz.
2009 zum ersten Mal getan: London besucht.

Die wichtigste Sache, von der ich jemanden überzeugen wollte: meine Sicht der Dinge zu erkennen. Useless.

Das schönste Geschenk, das ich jemandem gemacht habe: das müssen die anderen wissen. Ich würde sagen, das schönste Geschenk steht noch neben mir und muss erst übergeben werden. Aber bei jedem Geschenk war Herz dabei.

Damit wünsche ich euch einen guten Jahresausklang und 2010 lassen wir es dann so richtig krachen, hoffentlich dann in der eigenen Wohnung. Man sieht sich in Salzburg, in Wien, in Schottland (darauf freu ich mich am meisten!), in Lüttich, in London und vielleicht noch einmal in New York!

Heute war ich wieder (wie so oft in letzter Zeit) mit S. unterwegs. Zuerst ins Kino (Love happens, guter Film!) und danach rüber in den 19ten in ein Lokal. Zum ersten Mal seit langer Zeit habe ich mich wieder geöffnet und hatte sowas wie ein gutes Gefühl. Wir verstanden uns prima, und jeder Moment mit ihr wurde wertvoller und schöner für mich.

Vorhin habe ich ihr noch per SMS eine gute Nacht gewunschen. So haben wir dann ein bisschen hin und her geschrieben. Irgendwann kam dann der schon erwartete Satz: Bist a netter Kerl und ich kann dich auch gut leiden, aber es ist nicht mehr für mich.

War ja nur eine Frage der Zeit bis die Blase platzt. Ich kann sie schon verstehen, ehrlich. Ich kann mir selbst nicht vorstellen wie verzweifelt eine Frau sein muss, damit sie es mit mir versucht. Es ist wie es ist. Was habe ich mir auch nur dabei gedacht.

Dem Rhythmus nach sollte ich 2010 wieder nach NYC fliegen. Und ich habe schon zwei Ideen wie ich das anstellen könnte…

This was our last day in London. Around midday we took a taxi to LHR. When i found the Austrian Check in Gate, i couldn’t believe my eyes. There were standing about 400 people. What the fuck? No one could tell my why there was so a huge crowd. After about half an hour, the airport stuff began to form lines. Because of some canceled flights, there was such a huge crowd. An hour later, i was able to get to the check in desk. Remember: if you have already checked in via the internet, you can’t use the check in PCs there. You must go straight to the “Luggage drop off” desk. Don’t ask anyone, because no one will give you a good answer. Overall, this check in procedure was a huge mismanagement. Shame on LHR! At VIE or JFK or SBG i never had such an experience. Our flight was delayed about 40 minutes, but that was not a big problem for us. The flight itself was smooth as always. Back at VIE, the weather was shit and the taxi driver was a dumb ass. Welcome home!

Overall this trip was nice. London is a great city, with very nice houses (and cars, oh my gosh, i can’t tell you how often is saw the new Porsche or Bugatti or something else. It’s indeed the city of money) and very friendly people. Not once i had a problem with a taxi drive or anyone else. I also felt very secured. I can imagine to life in London. It’s not so other than Vienna, and much smoother than NYC, even if my heart was lost in NYC.

In the morning we attended a BBC Studio Tour. As you may know, i attended a tour at CNN and NBC and this was always a great experience. So, the BBC Tour was a must-do. You will see and learn there about the newsroom, the history of the channel and the building (funny, from the bird view the building looks like a question mark) and so on. I don’t get it: we have the ORF, the Brits have the BBC, both are public studios. Why is the BBC so cool and so good, and why is the ORF so a huge disappointment? One more question without answer.

We spent later some hours at the hotel, because i had to check in for the flight. After that, we went shopping at the Oxford Street. Don’t get me wrong: it is a nice street, but compared to our Mariahilferstrasse i can’t see why this street is so famous. And the 5th Ave. is not in this league, it’s more than a league above both of them. I bought some DVDs at HVM. They are cheaper than in Austria, so this was also a must-do. With bags of nice goods we went back to the Hotel.

This day should be our highlight day. I’ve planned most of the interesting stuff for this day. I got up early in the morning and took a taxi to the FC Chelsea stadium. I attended a stadium tour. Man, this was very cool. You can see the room with the “interview table” (and take pictures there with you), you will stand in the dressing room of the guest and the home team, you will walk the players entrance to the green, and much much more. The tour guide really did a good job to show me the famous Stanford Bridge stadium. The stadium itself is a little bit old and dirty, it’s the opposite to my beloved Red Bull Arena. After this tour i met my grandma at a train station for the rest of the day.

We drove straight to Madame Tussuad. It’s always nice to see the wax figures, even if i already watched them in New York. The end of this tour was very nice: you are sitting in a little taxi and the drove you like a carousel around the “history of London”. Nice idea! After that, i had my first real fish and chips. I had to eat it with my hands, because i didn’t got any knife or fork. This was strange, but i learned later that this is the normal way to eat it. Than we took a taxi to the London Aquarium. If you are interested in the sea wold, you should take a tour there. You will see really a lot of fishes, turtles and some other stuff. It reminded me of the Aquarium i saw in Stockholm.

Straight from the bottom up to the top: the London Eye. This was really the highlight of the day. I scheduled this trip for the evening, so the whole city lights will shine under us. This was very very cool, i love the night view of a city. Afterward we should take our boat cruise, but we missed the last one, because the have a other departure time in winter. This was a glitch in my voucher. This was not good, but not my fault, so we went back to the Hotel.

This day was nice. The weather was cool (overall we had only one rainy day and the temperature was always around 10 C), so it was the right day to visit the famous Tower Bridge. My grandma took the elevator, but i took the steps. Which, in this case, are very small, very high and a lot of steps. The Bridge itself was nice. You can learn about the building process of the bridge, you can learn some stuff about the landmarks around it and so on. It was a little bit disappointing that you don’t have a good view, because there are always some bridge metal in front of the windows. After this tour, we went straight to the St. Paul’s Cathedral. Yeah, it’s a church, i get it. Okay, it’s nice in it, but the admission price is a little bit too high. Ironically, my grandma told me there for the first time that she had bought a new car. So, i think this was here confession. After the church, we bloody bloody sinners went straight to Harrods. I bought two perfume for me and some tea for a friend. I tell you, there was a freaking crowd in it. As if this was the last day of Harrods or shopping ever! Anyway, I’m 5th Ave. proofed, so i managed my way through this crowd. After our shopping spree, we walked a little bit around the city and then drove home.

As you may know, i plan my holidays very well. I had booked and scheduled all our visits from Vienna, i also wrote down the subway connections between them. So, the journey began. A subway station (Shepherds Bush) was just around the corner (a short walk of 5 min), and there a very friendly man informed me about the best tickets for the subway. I payed 22 Pounds for 4 days. It’s not cheap, but after all its London. So, i stepped into the famous underground world of London. The subway system is really good. It’s very easy to understand, the trains are very cool and there is always (!) a status report about the delays etc. It’s so NOT Wiener Linien. We drove to our first todo: the original London bus tour. I thought it is a nice idea, to get a first and quick impression of the city. After some minutes of searching for the right station, we finally found our bus at Piccadilly Circus. I went straight to the top, even it was cold and a little bit rainy. We drove about 2h through London. You can see really much from the City. I got a bit wet, because it sometimes rained on our tour. Wet and cold, on a bus in London. That was pretty much the feeling for the first day. After this tour, we walked a little bit around, then drove home to the Hotel. In the warm bed i read the best book for this London Journey: 1984 - George Orwell. And that was Day 2.

I planned the holiday just for me, but thanks to my cruel mother, i took my gradma with me. It’s weird, i know. I won’t tell you the details here, but in the end i gave up. After all, it’s my gradma and her usually last holiday.

The arrival at our Hotel in Kensington was without any problems. We flew with Austrian from VIE to LHR and from there we took a taxi to our Hotel. The Hilton Kensington is a very nice place, very friendly and very cosy. At around 22 PM we finally arrived at our room. And that was Day 1.

Nun, heute ist Weihnachten. Von ganzen Herzen wünsche ich euch ein besinnliches Fest und einen schönes neues Jahr. Viele verbringen heuer das Weihnachtsfest im Kreis der Menschen die sie lieben, es gibt aber auch genug Feste wo geliebte Menschen fehlen. Genießt den Moment und vergesst nie das man für jeden wundervollen Moment dankbar sein soll. Haltet beim Anblick des geschmückten Christbaums kurz inne und gedenkt allen verstorbenen Menschen, allen Menschen die ihr verloren habt, allen Freunde die ihr verloren habt, an alle Partner die nun nur mehr eure Ex sind und an alle Menschen die in diesen Moment auf der Straße sitzen, an allen Menschen die gerade verzweifelt sind, kurz an alle Menschen denen es nicht so gut geht wie uns.

Ich habe mal meine eigene Arbeitsleistung evaluiert und bin zu folgendem Ergebnis gekommen: ich habe 2009 rund 250 PCs aufgestellt. Das entspricht Einnahmen für den Geschäftsbereich von 50.000 Euro. Nur die Einnahmen durch den PC Tausch. Exkludiert sind da noch die laufenden Kosten, welche die Kunden an uns zahlen müssen. Damit bin ich die klare Nummer 1. Am Helpdesk habe ich dafür kaum mitgearbeitet, Störungen wurden auch nicht soviele wie früher erledigt. Ich glaube, darauf kann ich in Summe stolz sein.

Heute bekam ich von meinem Vater eine Email ohne Text. Es waren zwei Dateianhänge dabei. In einem Foto war ein Hochzeitsring abgebildet, im anderem Foto ein Text: Wir haben geheiratet am 4.Dezember um 14″.

OK. So kann man mir es natürlich auch sagen. Ich finde das recht heftig. Warum hätte man es mir im Vorfeld nicht erzählen können oder mich sogar einladen können? Aber das sind Fragen auf die ich niemals eine Antwort bekommen werde.

Laut aktuellen Gerüchten gibt es in London bei McD die Senf Sauce. Kann das wer bestätigen? Dann nimm ich einen extra Koffer mit, heh.
